Good Friends Doing Great Work for Children
Schools that Move Souls (STMS) is a team of experienced educators who work together to bring restorative solutions and advisory services to schools. It started as a network of colleagues Dr. Zac Robbins gathered to find an effective solution for the unequal suspension and expulsion of Black students. Their research led them to implement restorative justice in schools. The amazing results of that program, documented in Dr. Zac’s book, gained national recognition. The Schools That Move Souls team shared their knowledge with other schools and change-makers, advising on restorative justice and other issues such as competency-based education, equitable school financing, literacy attainment, and strategic school reform.
While the Schools That Move Souls team doesn’t like to boast, they do have some amazing results to their credit. Besides national recognition for the restorative justice programs in schools, Dr. Zac has led transformation in schools from a one-star rate to a three-star rate (in just one year), and a nomination as ‘Most Improved School’ in the state. The team has had a 99% success rate in diverting eligible students from out-of-school consequences, and graduation rates improved from 65% to over 90% in two years. They are eager to share their expertise with other educators.
